What is Natural Medicine?

Every major civilisation throughout history has relied on plants for their healing and therapeutic qualities.

Some interesting facts about natural medicine: The Ebers Papyrus (c.1200 BC) contains a prescription of plant medicine for migraine based on much earlier medical knowledge. Many pharmaceutical drugs are based on plants - but often only some of the active constituents are copied and synthetically produced for use.

Natural Medicine combines the tradition of using plants to treat health conditions along with orthodox medical knowledge, diagnostic skills and a scientific training. Treatment can be in the form of tinctures (liquid medicine) or tablets. We diagnose and address the underlying issues and not just the symptoms.

The Scientific Research

Current scientific and evidence based research supports the therapeutic efficacy of various medicinal plants. Many health conditions can be addressed using plant medicine; avoiding the need for pharmaceutical drugs, where possible.

Aromatherapy

A form of Aromatherapy dates back to the Mesopotamian era (5500BC) but during the last century it was developed into a more formalised treatment. Plant essences in the form of essential oils, combined with massage is a powerful treatment incorporated into Natural Medicine for stress management and can be given alongside specific plant medicines, usually in tablet form.
